Aspiration of fat – liposuction, is a surgical procedure during which subcutaneous fat deposits are reduced by an aspiration of a certain quantity of fat where it is excessively accumulated.

Tissue is initially filled with a special solution using a fine needle, which causes constriction of vessels and bleeding after surgery is than lower; fat cells are more fragile and they can be aspirated more easily.

Then, using a liposuction cannula and liposuction device creating suction is performed the actual aspiration.

Liposuction procedure is performed in local anaesthesia and it lasts 2-4 hours.

The procedure is not suitable for reduction of weight, but to shape certain body parts. It is limited by skin elasticity.

It leaves only minimal 2 mm long scars.

Liposuction is performed for the following body parts:
- abdomen
- thighs
- double chin (neck)
- knees
- arms
- armpit
- hips

Preparation for the operation
Withdraw medication such as Acylpyrin, Aspro, Aspyrin, Mironal for one week before surgery as these drugs contain acetylsalicylic acid which causes bleeding.

Post-surgery
Recovery after liposuction lasts usually 3 days; swellings remain for up to 2 months, so the effect of the surgery is not visible immediately. There are bruises for several weeks. Elastic clothing is required for 6-8 weeks. It is also necessary to perform pressure massage on the aspirated sites until complete softening, which could last for approximately 2 months.
